Journalists in the country have been advised to strive for excellence while discharging their duties.
The General overseer, World Outreach Revival Centre, WOREC, Adegbayi, Ibadan, Apostle Peter Akanji gave the advice while addressing members of the Nigerian Union of Journalists, NUJ, Federal Radio Corporation of Nigeria, FRCN, Ibadan chapel during a thanksgiving service marking the commencement of the chapel’s press week.
Apostle Akanji who encouraged the FRCN staff to be a role model in their characters as well as endearvours.
The cleric who said FRCN contemporaries are watching performance of FRCN newsmen also encourage them to plan towards their retirement.
” I want encourage you to strive for excellence. Be a role model, others are watching you. Be a role model in your character and endearvours. I also want you to plan for the future.”
Earlier in his message Entitled: 2024; the year of Destiny Recovery with Double Bonus” taken from 1Samuel chapter 30 verse 8, Apostle Akanji who expressed optimism that 2024 would be a better year for Nigerians urged christians to persevere and pray for the nation’s leaders.
The cleric however urged federal government to prioritize provision of jobs for the nation’s youths, road infrastructure, and security of lives and property.
In his remark, the chairman, FRCN Ibadan chapel of the NUJ, Mr Oluwakayode Banjo, said the union consider it needful to express gratitude to God having survived the ordeals of the outgoing year.
Mr Banjo who pledged to continue to uphold the ethics of the profession said Ibadan FRCN chapel is set on the mission of recoverying the lost glory of the chapel not only in the state but also at the national level.
“God gave us victory over the challenges that rose against us in 2023. Despite all God has been faithful to us. We appreciate Him. We give all the glory and that is why we want to start the press week with Thanksgiving note
“I am happy with the sermon of our Apostle: Destiny Recovery with Double Bonus, also NUJ, FRCN, Ibadan chapel, used to be a giant chapel in Oyo state and we are on the mission of total recovery. We have started that work now”
He however implored the cleric to continue to echoe the truth to Nigerian leaders without intimidation.
Aside special songs, the thanksgiving service also featured special prayers for the FRCN union members.
The week long activities continues on Monday 4th December, 2023 with fitness and gym exercise at Kayrom Lee gym centre, Liberty Stadium, Ibadan while award/dinner night holds on Thursday 7th December, where few outstanding personalities will be honored.
