Popular Nollywood actor, Jide Adegbite, widely recognized for his role as Miliki Daddy, has been honored with the prestigious position of Patron of the Boys Brigade Ibadan South West 2 Battalion (IBSW 2) in Oyo State.
The installation ceremony, which took place at C & S church Ile- Ayo International, P&G Progressive Estate, Oluyole Extension Ibadan, was a momentous occasion that brought together distinguished guests, members of the Boys Brigade, and fans of the actor.
The event, held on Sunday, December 15, 2024, saw Miliki Daddy, an economist, public affairs analyst and a veteran in the Nigerian film industry, being recognized not only for his contribution to the entertainment world but for his unwavering commitment to youth development and community service.
The Boys Brigade, a Christian youth organization known for its focus on discipline, leadership, and spiritual growth, acknowledged Adegbite’s advocacy for positive values and his support for various youth empowerment initiatives.
During the installation ceremony, Adegbite expressed his deep gratitude for the honor, pledging to work tirelessly in support of the Boys Brigade’s mission of molding future leaders.
“I am both humbled and honored to be given this opportunity to serve as the Patron of this esteemed organization. The Boys Brigade represents a beacon of hope for the youth of today, and I am committed to using my position to help guide and nurture young minds in Ibadan and beyond,” he said.
“I’ve always been a part of the boys brigade right from my prime age. Known for his activeness, I was one of the best 20 boys brigade in OYO state back in over 3 Decades. I was a band boy, Warrant Officer, lieutenant, Flag bearer ( Colour Party). I was naturally gifted being with unique and attractive command tone while making commands on parade grounds.”
The event was attended by several high-ranking officials, including local government representatives, clergy, and other notable figures in the community. The Boys Brigade leaders praised Adegbite’s exemplary character and his dedication to community service, noting that his involvement would be instrumental in furthering the organization’s goals.
In separate speeches, the Battalion’s Commanding Officer, Mr. Tobi Bakare and his 113rd Ibadan Company Brigade counterpart, Captain Michael Dada emphasized the importance of such partnerships in ensuring the success of youth-centered initiatives.
“With the installation of Miliki Daddy as our Patron, we are not only gaining a respected figure in the entertainment industry but a true role model for our young members,” he stated.
As part of his patronage, Jide Adegbite is expected to help raise awareness for the Boys Brigade’s programs, encourage volunteerism, and assist in organizing events that focus on youth education, empowerment, and moral development.
