JUST IN: Oyo Assembly Okays Makinde’s Request On Issuance of Bond to Finance Remodeling of Agbowo Shopping Complex

The Oyo State House of Assembly on Tuesday approved the request by Governor Seyi Makinde for the issuance of bond for the remodelling of the popular Agbowo Shopping Complex in Ibadan.

The approval was sequel to a letter of request forwarded to the Oyo State House of Assembly by the Governor and read on the floor of the House by the Speaker, Rt. Hon. Adebo Ogundoyin.

The letter reads in part “As Part of efforts by the present administration in Oyo State to enhance business activities and boost internally generated revenue, the State Government has decided to remodel Agbowo Shopping Complex, Ibadan, a strategic commercial hub which had suffered significant deterioration over the years.”

While approving the request, Rt. Hon. Adebo Ogundoyin said Agbowo Shopping Complex remains one of the heritage of the founding fathers of Oyo State which must be jealously protected.

The Speaker said the Shopping Complex used to be one of the biggest Shopping Malls in the State.

The Deputy Speaker, Hon. Muhammad Abiodun Fadeyi in his contributions said the remodelling would bring back the lost glory of Agbowo Shopping Complex.

In his comments, Hon. Babajide Gabriel Adebayo (Ibadan North 2) commended Governor Seyi Makinde for the move, and said this was a testament to his administration’s resolve to hearken to the yearnings of the people of his Local Government where the Complex is situated.
