The Osun State Police Command has arrested four suspected kidnappers in connection with the alleged murder of a police inspector (name withheld) on Sunday while he was attempting to stop armed Fulani herdsmen from abducting two foreign nationals in the Aruwa village of Ifewara in the Atakumosa West local government area of Osun state.
The deceased police officer was with a police sergeant when the incident occurred in the early hours of Sunday, according to investigations.
It was learned that when the alleged kidnappers shot and murdered the police inspector, the second police officer also shot and killed one of the kidnappers.
The command also hinted that the state police command office was able to retrieve weapons, telephone sets, and other equipment.
The state police command’s spokeswoman, Ms. Yemisi Opalola, confirmed the event when reached and said that four suspected Fulanis had been detained in connection with it.
