Federal Government’s meeting with the Nigeria Labour Congress, NLC, on Monday ended in deadlock as the two parties could not reach an agreeable resolution.
Minister of Labour and Employment, Simon Lalong while appealing to the NLC to shelve the proposed strike said industrial action have taken a toll on the nation’s economy.
The minister promised to partner with organised labour to address their demands in balanced way.
On his part, the NLC President Joe Ajaero said they honored the invitation of the federal government just to see whether their demands would be met this time, alleging that resolutions reached with the government had failed to yield positive result.
Meanwhile, The National Executive Council of NLC are expected to meet on Wednesday to take a decision after the ultimatum given to the government ends on 21 September 2023.
