June 12: Providence Coalition President, Adeyoju Tasks Political Office Holders On Principles of Democracy
The president, Providence Coalition, a socio-political group in Oyo state, Prince Niran Adeyoju has congratulated Nigerians on the 25th anniversary of the nation’s democratic system which has put Nigeria on the path of progress and development.
Prince Adeyoju made this known in a statement issued by the publicity secretary of the coalition, Comrade David Oluokun and made available to newsmen.
He said, though Nigeria has passed through challenges and obstacles, especially during the military rule which took the nation far away from desired progress and development, the country has been able to surmount the daunting situations.
“After escaping military dictatorship in 1999, the country grew to become one of the biggest democracies in the world, the most populous democracy on African territory, and the symbol of democratic self-determination for the black community.
“This shift represents a turning point in human history. We should never turn away from this transformation, and history will never forget the profound significance of this historic occasion.
“We commemorate the silver anniversary of our democratic journey today, 25 years later.
Prince Niran Adeyoju used the occasion of the celebration to call on political office holders to deliver dividends of democracy to the citizenry and to uphold the principles of democracy at all times
He appealed to Nigerians to continue to keep hope alive despite the current economic hardship facing the country, noting that there is always light at the end of a tunnel.
Prince Adeyoju while commending the developmental policies of the president, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu urged him to expedite actions at addressing hike in food prices and other basic essential commodities
