The Oyo state government has allayed fears of structure owners and croppers over the proposed construction of the Ilu Tuntun Business District, assuring that provisions have been made to ensure due process and resettlement as enumerations of the affected buildings start next week Monday
The commissioner for Housing, Lands And Urban Development, Mr Akinfunmilayo Williams gave the assurance during a town hall meeting held at Akinyele local government hall, Moniya Ibadan, noting that a total number of proposed 7,872 hectre will be acquired for CBD projects
Mr Williams said the meeting was held to engage all stakeholders from the affected communities to look into the project aimed at providing an expanded opportunity to the state and Akinyele in particular as enumerations starts monday
Mr Williams said all ancient towns and their cultural traits will be reintegrated. The communities include OLORISA-OKO, AKURO Abeowu , Ajibade, Oloje, Alabata, Deyidu, among others.
He explained that enumerations of affected village buildings would start on Monday, as the govt will consider resettlement for the communities impacted and compensation as his door his opened for review after enumeration
Speaking on behalf of the affected communities in Akinyele area of oyo state, the Alakinyele of Akinyele ,Oba Adeniran James said government has not fulfilled their promise on the compensation of 210 buildings as only 90 house has been compensated so far,
Alakinyele of Akinyele however urged the affected communities to remain calm till after enumerations as oyo state government is ready to review any decision on the acquired land after emumeration as announced by the state commisioner
Present at the town hall meeting were representative of government led by commissioner, permanent Secretary, Chairman Akinyele Local government, Onijaye of Ijaye., Baale Oluyemisi Of OLORISA-OKO , Alakuro of AKURO and others, traditiinal rulers and community leaders and affected land owners
