GSM’s Landslide Victory And The Theory Of Reputation Building || Isiaka Kehinde.

Elections have just paid us a flying visit as its habit in every four years. It has departed leaving behind hordes of lessons for us to either learn or unlearn.

One of the lessons from the just concluded elections is on reputation building and GSM as a master of the game used it to advantage – He relied on it to fortify his electoral chances and also provided the public the noose to hang his political enemies by opening holes in their own reputations..

American author of the 48 laws of power, Robert Green in law 5 says ” So much depends on reputation, guard it with your life “. He is apt.

Reputation places a man in a good position to thank the past for its lessons, appreciate the present and face the future squarely. And as William Shakespeare says in” Macbeth “, no fragrance in Saudi Arabia can sweeten the little hand ” he is talking about a hand that holds gem with germs. Still on reputation. His message on how reputation hardly change is also well understood.

Funnily, I saw some people laying claims to their supports to GSM in the last elections, I just laughed , I say without fear of contradiction that with or without anybody, GSM had already won before the contest through reputation .

As Americans say ,” You can’t buy a good reputation, you must earn it. I have learnt to disregard the political giants and rather build and sustain my reputation with the masses. – The silent voters.

GSM reputation on good performance lure him to the electorates, he only built on it and made his ambition as ” Lincoln says ” on “sterner stuff” because life is not predictable and one should not leave anything to chances ..

Success ,a sage says ,is buried on the other side of rejection, those who slugged it out with GSM recently, should redirect their efforts at reputation building . They should learn to value ordinary people and not ignoring their own modest opinions Also ,they should not be more Catholic than the Pope and more pious than the holy prophet. GSM built his own reputation beyond religion borders .

They should have glowing past built of flavour and someday your reputation of modesty, keeping to promises , not betraying others, waiting for God’s time and having a mind as clear as a whistle will one day rise to speak for you . As I always write about GSM ” your actions, not words will speak for you ”

Many people are rushing to embrace and felicitate GSM , both new friends and old enemies and he is welcoming all with open alms . This brought the words of John F Kennedy to my mind that ” victory has 100 fathers and defeat is an orphan”.

Needless to say, bright political future awaits GSM ,a man with unsullied reputation. Let me conclude with Taye Cirrency oxymoron ” if you like wear your caps or hedties upside down, the masses votes will go for GSM “. And it just happened and will still happen in future .

Congratulations to the people’s Governor.
