Great Minds’ Team Mourns Chief Olusegun Awolowo (JNR), Consoles Awolowo Dynasty, Nigerian Tribune Family

The Great Minds’ Team led by Comrade Akeem Abas, of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Oyo State Council, has expressed deep sorrow over the passing of Chief Olusegun Awolowo(Jnr), the distinguished grandson of the sage, late Chief Obafemi Awolowo.

The team in a statement issued by its Council Secretary, Mosope Kehinde on Friday, described his death at 62 as a monumental loss to the Awolowo dynasty, the media industry and the nation at large.

The Great Minds’ Team said Dr. Awolowo lived a life marked by brilliance, dedication, and an unwavering commitment to national development.

It noted that his contributions as a public servant, administrator, and patriot would remain indelible in the country’s socio-economic landscape.

The team commiserated with the entire Awolowo family, particularly the matriarch, Chief (Mrs) Tokunbo Awolowo-Dosumu, urging them to take solace in the impactful and exemplary life Chief. Awolowo lived.

It prayed for strength, unity and divine comfort for the revered family during this difficult moment.

The team also extended their heartfelt condolences to the Nigerian Tribune family, describing the loss as personal to the media community.

The statement notes that the bond between the NUJ and the Tribune titles remains strong, and the passing of Chief Awolowo is deeply felt across the journalism fraternity.
