Gov. Makinde Presents Staff of Office To Oyo Monarch

Governor Seyi Makinde of Oyo state has officially presented staff and instruments of office to the Onifiditi of Fiditi, Oba Sakiru Oyewole Oyelere.

The Deputy Governor, Barrister Bayo Lawal presented the items to the monarch at the coronation ceremony held at Fiditi Grammar School, Fiditi, shortly before the presentation of staff and instruments of office to the monarch on behalf of the governor.

The Deputy Governor, while Felicitating the people of Fiditi over their new king stated the process of his enthronement followed due process.

He reaffirmed the commitment of Governor Makinde led administration to improving the relationship between government and traditional institution in the state, adding that traditional rulers would always play key roles in governance.

“By working hand in hand, we can tackle these challenges and ensure the welfare and progress of the entire community. The traditional institution and government authorities must join forces to promote peace, security, and overall development.

“In particular, I charge you, Kabiyesi-elect, to take all necessary steps to prevent the scourges of kidnapping, banditry, and land grabbing in your domain. Our government has zero tolerance for these menaces, and we expect your full cooperation in eradicating them.

“Embrace the wisdom, grace, and humility befitting a leader of your stature. Engage with the voices of your people, listen to their needs, and lead by example in fostering unity and progress in your domain. Your reign should be characterized by compassion, integrity, and a genuine dedication to the well-being of every individual under your care.”

“I extend my sincere appreciation to everyone involved in making this ceremony a success and thank the people of Tapa for their unwavering support. Let us continue to work together to build a brighter future for generations to come. Thank you, and may God bless us all.”

Earlier in his address, Otunba Ojo also known as ‘Ijaya’ described the new monarch as a man who embodies the heritage of Fiditi.

He noted that the ceremony signifies a critical chapter in the history of Fiditi as the staff and instruments of office symbolize tradition, strength, and authority which would enable the monarch steer the community towards a prosperous future.

“By presenting these revered symbols of power, we reassert our dedication to preserving the enduring principles that have shaped Fiditi for generations. May this occasion ignite a spirit of cohesion, advancement, and abundance, and may the reign of His Royal Majesty be defined by sagacity, benevolence, and elegance.

“Let us unite in extending our heartfelt felicitations and best wishes to His Royal Majesty, Oba Sakiru Oyewole Oyelere, as he embarks on this noble voyage. May his governance be graced with tranquility, prosperity, and joy for the people of Fiditi.” The Commissioner said.

The state state government is also billed to present staff and instruments of office to two other new monarchs in the coming days.

The monarch, in his acceptance speech, expressed gratitude to governor Makinde for his visionary leadership while pledging to lead with wisdom, compassion, and a steadfast commitment to justice.

“Let us continue to cultivate unity and harmony, drawing inspiration from our past to fuel the aspirations and potential. I ask for your continued support and prayers as I strive to fulfill my duties with honor and dedication”.

Present at the event are members of the state executive Council, top government functionaries, members of the state House of Assembly, traditional rulers, religious leaders, and other key stakeholders.
