Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta (FUNAAB) has commiserated with the family, friends, and the entire student body on the tragic loss of Miss Christianah Idowu, a 300-Level student of Pure and Applied Botany at the College of Biosciences (COLBIOS).
In a statement made available to newsarena.ng on Friday, the acting head, directorate of public relations of the institution, Mr Olasunkanmi Olajide said the news of her abduction in Lagos and senseless murder has left the institution heartbroken, and the entire FUNAAB community mourn her painful passing.
Olajide said the University Management stands in solidarity with her family, friends, and all who were touched by her life.
He said “To demonstrate our unwavering support, a delegation led by the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Academic), Prof. Olukayode Akinyemi and the Student Union President, Comrade Ibraheem Adeyemi, visited the family on Friday, September 6, 2024, met the bereaved mother and extended the University’s heartfelt condolences, offering comfort during this most difficult time.
According to Mr Olajide, the institution however called on the Nigeria Police Force to expedite investigation and ensure that justice is not delayed.
“This act of violence must not go unanswered. As we grieve, we pray that God grants her family and loved ones the strength to bear this huge loss.
“We also offer our support to the entire FUNAAB community, urging everyone to stay strong and united in the face of this tragedy.
“Once again, our thoughts and prayers are with the family of Miss Christianah Idowu, and we remain committed to seeing that justice is served for this grievous wrong.
