Fed. Lawmaker, Olajide ‘Odidiomo’ Felicitates Ex Osun Governor, Oyinlola At 75

Hon. Adedeji Dhikrullahi Stanley Olajide, member representing Ibadan North-west/Ibadan South-west federal constituency of Oyo state in the House of Representatives, has congratulated former Governor of Osun State, His Excellency Prince Olagunsoye Oyinlola, on the occasion of his 75th birthday,

A statement by Tolu Mustapha, Special Adviser, Media and Public Affairs to Hon. Olajide, described Prince Oyinlola as a statesman whose life has been defined by discipline, patriotism and service to Nigeria.

Olajide said the celebration of Prince Oyinlola at 75 offers Nigerians an opportunity to reflect on decades of selfless service rendered by the elder statesman across military and civilian spheres.

According to the federal lawmaker, Prince Oyinlola’s life remains an example of leadership anchored on sacrifice, courage and loyalty to the nation, noting that his contributions have left lasting footprints in governance and national development.

Olajide recalled that the celebrant served the country meritoriously as a senior officer of the Nigerian Army, rising to the rank of Brigadier-General, before his appointment as Military Governor of Lagos State between 1993 and 1996.

He noted that Prince Oyinlola’s leadership of Lagos State during a challenging national era reflected firmness, administrative competence and a strong commitment to public order and service delivery.

The lawmaker further highlighted Prince Oyinlola’s transition to democratic governance, culminating in his election as Governor of Osun State in 2003 and his subsequent re-election in 2007, where he served until 2010.

According to Olajide, Oyinlola’s years as governor were marked by efforts at strengthening state institutions, promoting economic development and democratic governance in Osun State.

“Prince Olagunsoye Oyinlola belongs to a generation of leaders whose public service was driven by a strong sense of duty rather than personal gain. His journey from the military to democratic governance reflects adaptability, experience and commitment to national unity,” Olajide said.

He added that beyond holding public office, the former governor has continued to play the role of an elder statesman, offering guidance, counsel and stabilizing influence within the political space and national discourse.
