There was palpable tension in lfon-Osun and ilobu in Orolu and Irepodun Local Government Areas of Osun State on Monday following reported resurgence of the communal war that caused mayhem in the two ancient towns last year.
There was speculation within the towns that some buildings in remote parts of Ifon, including a police post were razed down by some hoodlums in the early hours of Monday, a situation that heightened panic in the affected communities
Some residents started running helter-skelter, according to report, while traders hurriedly shot their shops when news filtered that there might have been a resurgence of the crisis that rocked the neighbouring communities.
According to report, Security officers including the Police and men of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, NSCDC were seen moving to forestall breakdown of law and order in the two communities.
It would be recalled that lfon- Osun and ilobu had clashed over land boundary, which resulted in the destruction of property, killings and maiming of citizens last year.
