The Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC in Oyo State says it has received the last batch of permanent voter cards and was ready for collection for registrants who were asked to come back in January 2023.
INEC Head of voter education, Oyo state, Mrs Rosemary Adeniyi made this known in an interview with newsarena.ng while reacting to the turnout of registrants at the ongoing collection of PVCs across the state.
“All the PVCs are ready in our offices for collection, we received the last batch of PVCs in Oyo state last week, so people should please go back and collect their PVCs” she said
Mrs Adeniyi explained that the turnout of registrants in the ongoing PVC Collection in Oyo state have been encouraging but admonished eligible voters to replicate the turnout experienced during the just concluded Continuous Voters registration on the collection of their PVCs.
Mrs Adeniyi told newsarena.ng that the commission would also begin the distribution of the cards at ward levels on the 6th of January 2023 and ends on the 15th same month, urging residents to take advantage of the exercise to collect their voting right ahead of the elections.
Some registrants who spoke with newsarena.ng at some INEC’s Local government offices within Ibadan said the processes of collecting the permanent voter cards were convenient
They however urged the independent National Electoral Commission in Oyo state to intensify it’s awareness campaign on the exercise and election processes, to avoid voter apathy in the 2023 general election.
