A 25-year-old tricycle operator, Ganiyu Babatunde, has been sentenced to twelve months imprisonment by the oyo state magistrate court sitting in iyaganku for assaulting a Senior Traffic Warden, Damilare Ajibike while performing his constitutional duty.
This was contained in a statement by the police public relations officer, Nigeria Police, Oyo State Command, Mr Adewale Osifeso and made available to Radio Nigeria.
The incident according to the statement occurred on June 22, 2025, at Idi-odo Felele area of Ibadan.
The tricycle operator, Babatunde was found guilty ,for inflicting an injury on Mr Ajibike who arrested him for illegal parking.
The Statement adds that, the command is also reviewing the conduct of a traffic Warden, Mr Isiaka Michael, who was captured on a video assaulting Babatunde during the arrest.
While internal investigation is nearing completion, the command encourages citizens to report misconduct of any Police Officer.
