The most recent local government elections held on October 15 by the Osun State Independent Electoral Commission were declared invalid on Friday by a Federal High Court sitting in the capital city of Osogbo, Osun State.
In his ruling, Justice Nathaniel Ayo-Emmanuel declared that the election had been held in violation of Sections 29 and 32 of the Electoral Act of 2022.
The Peoples Democratic Party had petitioned the court to prevent OSIEC from conducting the scheduled elections.
