According to the Ogun State Police Command, an investigation has been opened to determine the circumstances surrounding the murder of a 40-year-old councillorship candidate who was shot and killed by unidentified assailants in the Oke Ilewo area of the state capital, Abeokuta.
Speaking to reporters in Abeokuta, State Police Public Relations Officer, Omolola Odutola claimed that the criminals, who arrived in an unregistered Toyota Corolla sport car, left the scene and went to an unidentified area after perpetrating the act.
She, however explained that someone going by the name, Adesanya Adeyinka had asked for the victim’s remains to be buried without requesting an autopsy or medical evaluation.
According to the Police Spokesperson, efforts are underway to apprehend the fleeing suspects, adding that the police will maintain an increase patrols to safeguard communities and prevent similar incidents.
