Committee Of Ex IGPs Make Recommendations For Govt On Police Professionalism

In a bid to realize a bright future for Nigeria police in terms of professionalism and dedication, Government must channel investments into education, technology-driven policing, and foster community engagement and collaboration.

This is the position of former inspectors-General of Police at a retreat held in Ibadan,the Oyo state capital.

Reading the communique on behalf of the committee of ex-IGPs, IGP Solomon Arase, said with technology- driven policing and collaboration, there is hope for nigeria police force to perform optimally.

The police bosses were optimistic that the far reaching positions taken at the forum would in no distant time, begin to yield positive and outcomes in support of a formidable security architecture.

Declaring the retreat closed, Governor Seyi Makinde urged the Police Service Commission and Inspector General of Police to look inward to address the security challenges facing the Nation and ensure improved budgetary provision of Nigeria police.

Governor Makinde who spoke through the Deputy Governor, Bayo Lawal, expressed concern about social vices in the society and believed that the retreat would serve as a veritable template that would solve the security issues in the country.

Earlier, Chairman, Committee of Retired Inspectors- General of Police, IGP Aliyu Attah, appreciated the state governor, Engineer Seyi Makinde for hosting and sponsoring the retreat.
