Celloop Partners CEID Hub, Decibel Labs, ThinkClock To Offer Battery Manufacturing Free Training For Youths, Women In Oyo, Kano, Others. (How To Apply)

In an effort to support the federal government’s goal of achieving 30% renewable energy in the national energy mix by 2030 and address the lack of access to reliable electricity by Nigerians, a pioneering Nigerian clean-tech company, Celloop Limited, in partnership with Climate Emerge Innovation Development Hub, CEID; Decibel Labs and ThinkClock, have launched a free training programme on Battery Pack Design and Manufacturing.

The training which its selection process would begin in May 2025 is aimed at building local capacity in clean energy technology, creating employment for youth and women and promoting battery innovation and circular economy practices which is part of the GESI focus in the Zero Emission Generator project, supported by Innovate UK and Carbon Trust.

Speaking at a news conference in Ibadan, the Oyo State capital, Mr. Tolu Olukokun, the Chief Technical Officer and Co-founder, Celloop Limited, explained that the training program will be implemented across states of the federation, selecting Oyo, Lagos, Kano, Rivers, Abia and Abuja as pioneering states.

Mr. Olukokun who hinted that the training, targeting over 500 beneficiaries over the course of its execution, will deliver hands-on training in battery pack design, energy storage systems, and local assembly techniques, equipping a new generation of technicians, entrepreneurs, and engineers with the practical knowledge to thrive in the clean energy economy.

He said “The Battery Pack Design and Manufacturing Training Program has been designed to ensure that beneficiaries not only gain theoretical knowledge but also acquire practical, real-world skills that can be directly applied within Nigeria’s growing clean energy sector.

“So to apply, the program consists of two interlinked phases, one, Online Self-Paced Training which is the Pre-Qualification Stage.

“All interested participants are required to enroll in a self-paced online training module, which serves as an introduction to battery technologies, energy storage principles, and circular economy fundamentals.

“This phase offers flexibility and access to foundational concepts from any location.

“Upon completion, participants will receive a certificate of completion, which will serve as a pre-qualification document for the next phase.

Corroborating, Founder and Chief Executive Officer, Climate Emerge Innovation Development Hub, CEID, Mr Sope Afolayan explained that from the pool of candidates who complete the online training, a selected group will be invited to participate in the in-person, hands-on training at regional centers across six states including Lagos, Oyo, Port Harcourt, Abuja, Kano, and a South-Eastern state.

He said highlights of the program include a comprehensive technical training, strategic partnerships, pathways to employment and entrepreneurship, as well as alignment with national and global goals

In a remark, the special adviser to Oyo State Governor on Environment, Engineer Dr. Ademola Aderinto expressed the readiness of the present administration in the state to key into the initiative in order to harness the potential in the renewable energy sector.
