It was an ignition of happy mood, love and excitement as congregants, ministers of the gospel and workers in the vineyard gathered to rejoice with the few keenly selected individuals who were bestowed with different categories of awards of recognition at St Philips Cathedral, Ayetoro, Ile Ife, Osun State.
The spirit-filled event was under the auspices of Churches and Ministries under the Christian Association Of Nigeria, CAN, Ife Chapters.
The programme equally witnessed the inauguration of a 17 Member Council Of Elders for the Association.
Royalty was added to the event to make it colourful and glamorous as two prominent Monarchs in Ile Ife His Royal Majesty, Special Apostle (Oba) Abiola Fakoyejo Awoseemo and Olu Of Tafa Kingdom as well asHis Royal Majesty Oba Olusegun Adedire, Obawara Of Iwara were decorated as Christ Royal Ambassadors.
According to the organisers, the Monarchs have served the Lord with their energy, time and resources.
The Presiding CAN, Ife Chapters, The Revd (Dr) Sam Leye Onitiju said the two Kabiyesis have demonstrated unwavering commitment to the advancement of the Gospel.
He stated that the recognition accorded them was a call to continue to serve God.
The Revd Leye Onitiju charged other awardees not to relent in their physical and spiritual support for the work of God.
Speaking on the theme: “Finishing Strong”, Revd Olabode John said Christians and indeed all mortals were on a journey on earth.
He declared that humans needed God to end their earthly race well noting that the journey was not really only about starting but about ending well and strong.
The clergy therefore enjoined Christians to be vigilant, steadfast and tolerant as they continued the journey.
He concluded by challenging children of God not to look back and that their behaviour and attitude must be such that glorify God.
Earlier, the chairman of the occasion, Special Apostle Sam Fayemi decried unhealthy rivalries among Church denominations and leaders saying there is “only one body of Christ”.
He preached love among the people. Love for God and love for the country.
In his response Olu of Tafa Kingdom Oba Abiola Fakoyejo Awoseemo declared absolute power in God as King of Kings and Lord of Lords.
Also Speaking Obawara of Iwara, Oba Olusegun Adedire pledged continued support to the work of God.
Dignitaries that attended the event which featured Deaconess Funmilola Abiri ministrying in Ife dialect songs included family members, High Chiefs and subjects from the two communities include a retired Deputy Director of News, Radio Nigeria, Chief S.T.Abiodun.
