Bimbo Adekanmbi And The Fallacy of “Ignoranto Elenchi” Part 1

By Isiaka Kehinde

In logic, two premises make a logical conclusion. Where this fails to happen, the argument is assumed to be defective, warped, or lacking in substance.

The logician calls this a fallacy of illogical conclusion.

O . Oladipo, in his book titled Thinking about philosophy, ” named it ” informal fallacies. ”

This came up as i engaged an old friend recently in an argument about GSM’s would – be successor.

His response was stunning as it bespeaks the illogical reasoning of someone expecting to be deft, and he happens to be daft.

How can a Christian succeed GSM. He queried with a palpable incredulity? It depicts the shallowness of thinking .

Funny enough, he’s not even a practising Muslim. The illogical outcome reminds me of the above-mentioned fallacy in logic. As our elders surmise,’ one feels disappointed if he finds in place of wisdom, an ignorance of a bird’s brained thinker.

My response is not to fire any salvo but to educate whosoever harbours that kind of illogical mindset to steer clear of it.

Without much emphasis, religion should take a rare seat in our choice of the next Oyo state governor.

Governance is about service, not sectarian identity. It focuses on the generality of the people and not a subsect of a particular faith.

Let’s for once reflect on this and route for a bridge builder – a man with the required competence to champion our course in Oyo state rather than using religion sanctimony as a criterion for leadership.

Like the late reggae mastro advised in his 1991 album titled ‘religion na politics’, It’s better to shun hypocrisy and religious polarity and start to see ourselves as one.

“But I and i is one . We are all one people. I and i is one.let unite and build the world…….”

At this point in time, we need to put on our thinking cap and push forward a worthy leader in spite of the creed or family background.

We don’t have to be pietistic. It can only be a manipulation of faith for political gains.

Mixing religion with governance is like mixing petrol and water. They don’t blend. Each will ultimately go in a different direction.

Let ones conscience be his password to rule us as we shun social disparity or primordial religion sentiments that can weed out the best amongst us.

All we need now is a man with moral integrity as Allan kooi Simpson, an American politician, says, “Nothing else matters without integrity.”

In a nutshell, you dont need a man with ill gotten wealth to buy your votes, which are your inalienable rights. You don’t need a religious bigot who will claim to be hollier than Pope or know islam more than Saudi imams.

The moral is submerged in the lyrics of
Ralph Tresvant , an American R and B singer’s album titled ” Sensitivity. where he sang;

“…..You don’t need a man that will treat you wrong, l mean what you really need is someone who cares, someone who’s gonna be there for you, you need a man with sensitivity……”

Religion sentiments can only breed confusion and social disorder . What Majek aptly called ” the tricks lots of the people know.”

A situation where people are ill-suited and often find themselves on top because of warped religious divides.

Poverty is not a respecter of any religion. We need a governor who will talk less and act more.

He who will manage our resources well. A man who will be an astute administrator with a soft mind for the masses.

He should not be a tyroo, but a man who is tested and trusted with our common wealth . An experienced and well-connected personality.

He can come from any religion inclination for all i care. What is topmost is humanity.

A man with competence of a philosopher king. Bimbo Adekambi is not just an opportunist waiting for when to strike, he’s a lesson in the philosophy of reluctance.

A person who doesn’t seek, but he’s sought- a disinclined fellow with the mind to take Oyo state people to the next level. His coordinating prowess in the upgrade of Samuel ladoke Akintola Airport ibadan, which is being transmitted into an international airport, remains indellible in the minds of the citizens who yearn for more of similar landmark projects in the state.

Without being immodest, Honourable Adekambi, in all intents and purposes, top the list of those to be jostling to be considered to cary on with the good strides of GSM come 2027 with his digital speed

His entrance into the political arena has sent shivers down the spine of some other contestants who view him as a hard nut to crack.

Its yet to dawn on them that here is a “vox populi, vox dei.”

Watch out for part 2.
