What could have been a glamorous commissioning of an ultra modern primary school in Surulere local government of Oyo state earlier this week turned to a mild drama as the All Progressives Congress,APC and People’s Democratic Party,PDP laid claim to facilitating the school construction.
Baptist Day primary school,Oko was founded about forty five years ago and has produced numerous students.
A building of many classrooms has recently been facilitated through universal basic education fund A program presumed to be the official commissioning of the project, however, turned out to be a political platform as politicians lay ownership claims on the project.
A PDP chieftain who is the caretaker chairman Surulere South LCDA, Mr. Gbadamosi Maruf said the project was initiated by the administration of Governor Seyi Makinde.
“We are here to celebrate the good thing Governor Seyi Makinde of Oyo state did for us in Oko by building a school facility for pupils in the town.
My advice for the people is that this beautiful project established by the governor should be maintained and any fault should be reported to the appropriate quarters”
Earlier,an Apc stalwart in Ogbomoso zone,Member representing Ogo oluwa Surulere federal constituency at the federal house of representatives ,Mr.Segun Odebunmi had also given a remark at the event.
Later,the lawmaker,Mr.Odebunmi posted on one of his Facebook pages “Bunvic Live Odebunmi Segun” a claim that the project was constructed by the late Abiola Ajimobi.
The post reads “Ajimobi lives on ….. Yesterday,it was indeed an honor to commission newly constructed classrooms in Baptist Primary school Oko,built by his excellency,late Governor Abiola Ajimobi’s Administration ”
In another development,another PDP chieftain in Oko, Oyo state ,who was once a member of Federal house of representatives,Chief Banjo Folaranmi had also posted on his Facebook account,attributing success of the school to the PDP.
