The coronation of three high chiefs in Ibadan to the position of monarchs took place as scheduled at the premises of ancient Mapo Hall,despite the absence of the elevated kings.

The elevated kings are Oba Akeem Mobolaji Adewoyin,Ekerin Balogun of Ibadan, Oba Oyekola Babalola, Ekarun Olubadan of Ibadan, and Oba Sharafadeen Abiodun Alli, Ekarun Balogun of Ibadanland

Recalled that the palace Olubadan of Ibadanland, Oba Rashidi Adewolu Ladoja had earlier issued a statement that the three concerned High Chiefs due to be coronated have formally informed the Olubadan that they would be unavailable, and have, therefore, asked for postponement.

According to the statement,the palace had informed the State Government through the Ministry of Local Government and Chieftaincy Matters.
Installing the monarch, Governor Seyi Makinde who spoke through the Deputy Governor, Chief Bayo Lawal said the coronation became imperative in order not to create vacuum in the Ibadan chieftaincy law.
Governor Makinde maintained that whether the concerned monarchs were present or not, their elevation is sacrosanct under the extant laws.
