ASUU: Students Defy Monday Morning Rain, Block Lagos Terminals, Airport Roads

The National Association of Nigerian Students, NANS, is protesting the continued stay-at-home of students due to the Academic Staff Union of University, ASUU strike, as vehicular movement came to a complete stop at both the local and international airports in Lagos on Monday.

The students around the hajj and cargo terminal, as well as the road leading into the international airport terminal, have blocked up all access highways to the airports.

To express their rage over the Federal Government and ASUU’s failure to reach an agreement on the demands of the academics, they resisted the early rain while shouting songs of support.

The once-busy airport roads and toll gates are desolate, and the environment that typically defined the airport is devoid of the customary rush and activity.

Students at the airport secondary school are also impacted, as well as employees of the numerous agencies and businesses at the airport who are unable to reach their workplaces.

Report has it that, there are a lot of stranded air travelers on the roadways.

To stop the breakdown of law and order, security agencies, the police, and the Civil Defense Corps are on the scene.

The once chaotic traffic situation on Mondays in the Lagos metropolis has been compounded by the protest as it has extended to Ajao Estate area to Oshodi, local airport to ikeja under the bridge, the Agege motor road, spilling over to other roads linked to these areas.
