Meanwhile, his deputy, Chief Bayo Lawal will take over as acting governor while he is away.
According to reports, the governor informed the House of Assembly of the situation in a letter sent on Wednesday.
The development was confirmed by a source in the Assembly, who added that the letter was delivered to the Speaker and Clerk’s office at around 4:30 p.m.
The information was also confirmed by a second person who is aware of the Governor’s operations but would prefer that his name not be published.
The governor will be on vacation from August 11 until September 2, according to the source.
“By a declaration transmitted under section 190 (1) of the Constitution to the Speaker, Oyo State House of Assembly (OYHA) today 10th August 2022.
“The Deputy Governor, Chief Bayo Lawal will be Acting Governor during the period.”
Kazeem Olayanju, the chairman of the house committee on information, declined to comment when asked about the development.
The letter, according to a source who verified it in the House, will, however, be presented during the subsequent plenary.
The source was unable to specify whether the House will convene an urgent plenary to receive the letter or if it would wait until next week, when a plenary is anticipated to take place.
However, it was gathered that with the notification of the lawmakers through the letter, the Governor has fulfilled the requirements to make Lawal serve as Acting Governor pending his return.
Since the current political dispensation, it is the first time a governor of the state will be going on a vacation and transmitting power to the deputy to serve as Acting Governor.
