500 women across all local government areas of Oyo state have benefited from the empowerment programme of the Renewed Hope initiative,RHI,an initiative of the wife of the president of the country,Senator Oluremi Tinubu.
In her message to the women,Senator Tinubu, represented by the wife of the Oyo state deputy governor,Mrs Ajibola Lawal said the empowerment programme which had gone round the 6 geopolitical zones of the country was mapped out for women recognizing the critical role they played in nation’s building for sustainable development.

Senator Tinubu warned that a monitoring team would be on ground to ensure that the items were judiciously used to benefit and empower all beneficiaries economically.

In her speech, the senior special assistant to the president on sustainable development goals, Princess Adejoke Orelope-Adefulire said the programme was not to distribute empowerment items alone but it would unlock potential, foster economic independence and create opportunities for the women to thrive.
Represented by Mrs Patricia Aniebue, Princess Orelope-Adefulire advised the women to use the empowerment tools as a stepping stone into greatness and sustainable livelihood.
In her speech the wife of the governor of Oyo state, Chief Mrs Tamunominini Makinde, represented by the commissioner for women affairs and social inclusion, Mrs Toyin Balogun maintained that the society would be more viable when women were empowered to become self reliant.
Chief Mrs Makinde implored the women not to sell the items rather use it to turn around the fortune of their households
Three of the beneficiaries, president, National Council of Women Societies,NCWS,Oyo state, Mrs Kikelomo Oyelade , Mrs Omoniyi Siyanbola and Mrs Oladipupo Omobola reiterated that these items would benefit them as it would boost their businesses thereby advising other beneficiaries to utilize them well .
In their good will messages,the commissioners for Energy and Mineral Resources,Health, Special duties,Professor Daud Sangodoyin, Dr Oluwaserimi Ajetunmobi and Alhaja Joke Sanni called on the women not to toy with the items but to use them well in order to turn their fortunes around and empower them economically.
Professor Sangodoyin said in Oyo state the initiative aligned perfectly with the global sustainable growth ,SDG-5.
The empowerment tools were Grounders,Chest freezers, Generating set and Gas cookers.
