Atiku Abubakar of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Bola Tinubu of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Peter Obi of the Labour Party (LP), and other individuals have been named as presidential candidates for the general elections of 2023 by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
This is in accordance with a circular that the election organization published on Tuesday, September 20, 2022.
The candidates’ state of origin, age, and other information were also mentioned in the INEC circular.
It included a list of their running partners and their credentials.
While the lists of potential presidential candidates were made public today, the names of prospective governors won’t be until October 4, 2022.
According to Section 94(1) of the Electoral Act of 2022, political parties’ formal public campaigns will start on September 28, 2022.
Mahmud Yakubu, the head of INEC, urged political parties and their candidates to concentrate on issue-based campaigns and stated that the commission is working with security organizations to ensure a peaceful election.
