World Hijab Day: Oyo FOMWAN Calls For Ban On Body Revealing Clothes

As the World marks Hijab Day 2023, the Federation of Muslim Women’s Associations in Nigeria, FOMWAN, Oyo State chapter has hailed female muslims across the world who chose to uphold the commandment of Allah as contained in the Glorious Quran on the wearing of hijab.

Oyo FOMWAN in a news release issued in Ibadan to mark the day described hijab as a religious requirement and injunction which is only directed at female muslims

The statement signed by Oyo State Amirah of FOMWAN, Alhaja (Dr) Bushra Oloso said hijab represents and promotes modesty, dignity and decency, adding that every 1st of February is set aside to celebrate and create awareness on the essence and importance of hijab amongst muslims.

” We are happy to celebrate this day with millions of female Muslims across the globe. Hijab is our identity and a commandment, and it is our pride. Muslims are enjoined to follow the dictates of the Quran. Hijab is an injunction in Quran chapter 24:31 and 33:59″

The Oyo FOMWAN Amirah described as unfair what she called acrimonious and sentimental war some religious bigots are waging against hijab.

Alhaja Oloso wondered why people will show animosity towards decently and modestly clothed female muslims but show affection to bare-breasted and skimpily dressed ladies and women.
