Governor Seyi Makinde of Oyo state has commended the service Commanders, men and officers in Oyo state for their dedication in securing the state.
Governor Makinde stated this while speaking with journalists during this year’s Armed Forces and remembrace Day celebration held at the remembrace Arcade Agodi, Ibadan.
He said his administration would continue to support the families of the fallen soilders and make life bearable for them.
Earlier, the chairman Nigerian Legion, Oyo state Command, Julius Ogunkojo said there was the need for federal government to recruit more personnel into the Nigeria Army in tackling the security Challenges facing the nation
He noted that the number of personnel serving in the Armed Forces is low when compared to developed world like United States and China.
Mr Ogunkojo equally stressed the need to boost the morale of soilders through required benefits and living wage.
Mr Ogunkojo therefore implored government and well meaning nigerians to come to the aid of the ex-servicemen for better living
Highlight of the ceremony is the laying of the wreath and firing of the 21 gun salute as mark of Honor to the ex-servicemen.
The Armed Forces and Remembrace Day celebration which is an Annual event on every 15th January is set aside to identify with the fallen heroes in defending the country and keeping the International peace
