U.I Students Protest In Ibadan

Students of the University of Ibadan on Wednesday Protested the introduction of a new policy rationing Electricity power supply and other concerns on Campus.

The new policy contained in a memo issued by the department of works and maintenance of the institution notes that the students will henceforth get 10-hour daily electricity supply within the campus.

In an interview, an Ex-officio of the students’ Union, Mr Samuel Samson who was among those making efforts to calm down the protesting students said the New policy did go down well with the students.

Some of the students lamented that the shortage in electricity supply on campus would affect their reading hours, noting that they were already having to cope with a chocked up room.

According to the memo, the Vice-Chancellor approved six hours electricity supply during the day between 8am and 2pm and four hours in the night between 10 at night and 2 o’clock in the morning.

Reacting, the Public Relations Officer of the Institution Mrs Joke Akinpelu said the School Management was meeting to address the situation.
