A heart-wrenching incident has unfolded in Idi Ayunre, Oluyole Local Government Area of Oyo State, as two siblings, Precious Adebayo (10) and Iyanuoluwa Adebayo (9), have gone missing.
According to their mother, Mrs. Oluwatosin Adebayo, the siblings were last seen on March 22, 2025, at Ajia Village, Idi Ayunre, after visiting their schoolmates.
They allegedly proceeded to the Ajia River to swim, as they had done the previous day.
The Nigeria Police Force, Oyo State Command, has confirmed the incident and launched an investigation.
A police report obtained from Idi Ayunre Station revealed that a pair of shoes belonging to one of the missing children was found at the riverbank.
Despite efforts by local divers, the children nor their corpses have been found till date.
Oyo State Commissioner of Police, Johnson Adenola, has assured the public that investigations are ongoing.
He also advised parents to caution their children against swimming in rivers, especially during the rainy season.
