Tragic Rainstorm: Ibadan North Reps’ Member, Folajimi ‘DoN’ Sympathizes With Bodija Market Traders
The member representing Ibadan North Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, Hon. Folajimi Oyekunle (DON), has expressed deep sorrow over the tragic rainstorm incident that occurred last week at Bodija Market in Ibadan North Local Government, which reportedly claimed a life and left several others affected.
In a press statement made available to journalists through his Senior Special Assistant on Media and Publicity, Mr. Bodija Akinwale, the federal lawmaker described the incident as unfortunate and heartbreaking, extending his heartfelt condolences to the family of the deceased and all individuals impacted by the disaster.
Hon. Oyekunle stated that he received the news with sadness, noting that no family should have to experience such a painful loss resulting from a natural disaster.
The lawmaker further disclosed that he has directed that a proper investigation be carried out to determine the actual cause and circumstances surrounding the incident, with the aim of preventing future occurrences and strengthening safety measures across public spaces and markets within the constituency.
He assured residents that government authorities and relevant agencies would take all necessary steps to address the aftermath of the incident and ensure that lessons are drawn to avert similar tragedies in the future.
Hon. Oyekunle also called on market stakeholders and residents to remain vigilant and cooperate with relevant authorities in promoting safety standards, especially during periods of adverse weather conditions.
While sympathising with the immediate family of the deceased, affected traders, and the entire Bodija Market community, the lawmaker prayed for comfort for those mourning and wished those affected strength and speedy recovery from the unfortunate incident.
He reaffirmed his commitment to the welfare and safety of constituents and pledged continued engagement with relevant authorities toward safeguarding lives and property across Ibadan North Federal Constituency.
