Tinubu’s Bridge-Building Capacity Is Testament To His Abiding Faith In Humanity – Group

A sociopolitical group, Better Oyo Movement (BOM) has lauded Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) for his capacity to build bridges of friendship, comradeship and support, across the length and breadth of Nigeria, positing that could only have been possible due to the former Lagos governor’s abiding faith in humanity.

In a release in Ibadan, the Oyo State capital, BOM argued that for a politician to have maintained friendship with several individuals, each with distinct personality traits, for several decades, only advertises one thing – that politician’s tolerance, endurance and emotional intelligence.

“Perhaps the hardest job of a leader is the capacity to understand and accept individuals, tolerating them, and infinitely holding on to their capacity to do well, not minding their current depravations. This trait, we believe, has largely helped Asiwaju, as even the harshest of his critics, and opponents of his ideas, return years after, to salute his superior argument.

Citing Asiwaju’s own quotes: “I plan for betrayal, I plan for backstabbing, I also plan for reunion and forgiveness long before they happen. In life, I expect nothing, I expect anything, I expect everything,” BOM notes that, that indeed is what has shaped the Jagaban Borgu into a man with a large heart and an enduring spirit.

BOM, which recalled Tinubu’s enduring friendships with the late Sheu Musa Yar’adua, his solid support for the election, and the subsequent struggle for the restoration of the mandate of Chief M.K.O. Abiola, his pro-democracy struggles and dedication to the efforts of the National Democratic Coalition (NADECO), inspite of personal and public injuries, as well as the organization of fellow progressives into a formidable force to defeat an incumbent president, as irrefutable evidences of the marks of a true bridge builder, one committed to nurturing and fostering enduring relationships for the good of all.

The group added that with such noble qualities, Asiwaju Tinubu, when elected president, will be able to draw from a pool of highly cerebral individuals, many of whose capacities and capabilities he already knows, to build a team capable of tackling the challenges of Nigeria headlong, and setting the nation on the path of peace, progress and prosperity.

BOM, whose release was signed by its Chairman, Dr. Femi Fakunle and Secretary, Engr. Tunji Hammed, consequently enjoined voters to see that quality of Asiwaju’s as an advantage which can help propel the nation to greater heights.

“We know for a fact, that Asiwaju Tinubu had the best cabinet any administration could boast of since 1999, with many of its members going on to achieve greater things in their personal and public life, contributing to the nation’s development at an even greater scale. Till date, nearly all of them, have remained Asiwaju’s disciples, propagating his ideas of progressivism and good governance to the admiration of supporters and the consternation of critics.

“Besides, if he could put up such a fantastic cabinet devoid of primordial considerations such as region and religion, but only trusting the best to deliver what has eventually become Nigeria’s prime state – Lagos, we know he’ll do more, when elected on a grander stage,” the release added.

The group, therefore, called on Nigerians to use the opportunity the Saturday, 25 February, 2023 polls presents, to elect Asiwaju Bola Tinubu as president, so the nation can benefit from his legacies of enduring friendships, and commitment to the cause of humanity.
