*FAMILY BACKGROUND*
Teslim Kolawole Folarin was born in October 1963 to Alhaji and Alhaja Hamzat Folarin family. He stemmed from Baale House in Oja Igbo area of Ibadan North-East Local Government area of Oyo State. Folarin is the Head (Mogaji) of his family House and a ranked traditional Chief in Ibadanland. He is the Ayingun Olubadan of Ibadanland.
*DISTINGUISHED SENATOR TESLIM KOLAWOLE FOLARIN, OFR. EDUCATION BACKGROUND*
Folarin attended primary school in Lagos; his secondary education was completed at Nigeria’s premier secondary school, Methodist Boys High School. Folarin holds a B.Sc (Hons) degree in Political Science from the University of Ibadan and a diploma degree from Harvard University, USA. He spent some years gathering valuable civil service experience in the UK, including management roles at the Department of Trade in London before returning to Nigeria in 2002. Folarin performed his obligatory NYSC tenure in Kaduna.
*POLITICAL CAREER*
Folarin joined Politics in year 2002 after his return from United Kingdom, because of his Strategic way and contested and won the senatorial seat to represent Oyo Central in 2003 at the age of 39 years on the platform of the PDP and was re-elected for a second term in 2007 on the platform of the same PDP.
At the Senate, he was appointed Leader of the Senate. Folarin also served on the Senate Committee on Business & Rules, Marines and Transport although his particular interests were in education, power supply and water resources.
Folarin was involved in the Power probe in 2008. As the Leader of the Senate, he led debates on all Executives Bills and sponsored several private Bills himself. These included the Insurance Act, Armed Forces Pension Act and several others.Folarin won the gubernatorial ticket of his former party, Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in 2014. He lost the election to late Governor Senator Abiola Ajimobi of the All Progressive Congress (APC).
Folarin defected to the opposition party All Progressive Congress in December 2017. Folarin was elected as the All Progressive Congress(APC) Oyo South senatorial candidate on September, 2018. He remains the only legislator in Oyo State who is serving third term at the Senate. Folarin won the senatorial position in the 2019 Oyo central senatorial district election defeating the incumbent senator, Mrs. Monsurat Sunmonu and other candidates. Upon his inauguration as a member of the 9th Senate of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, he was subsequently appointed as the Chairman of the Senate Committee on Local Content and he is also a member of the following Senate Committees: National Security and Intelligence, Finance, Sustainable
Development Goals (SDGs), Inter-parliamentary, Constitutional Amendment, Airforce and Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).

*MEGA EMPOWERMENT PROGRAMME*
It was an historical events when over 3000 youths and women including widows drawn from the twenty local government areas that make up the Oyo Central and the Oyo South Senatorial Districts received social empowerment tools from the Chairman Senate Committee on Local Content, Senator Teslim Folarin.
The items were distributed to the beneficiaries at Ilaji Stadium in Ona-Ara Local Government Area of Oyo State.
Recall that coordinated hoodlums, on 24th of October 2020, stormed the lawmaker’s house and looted over N200 million worth of empowerment materials. While recounting his losses, Oloye Folarin promised his constituents that the looted items would be replaced but the mega empowerment programme could no longer hold in December 2020 as earlier scheduled.
The TKF mega empowerment programme was organised to assist thousands of unemployed people in his Oyo Central Senatorial District and by extension Oyo South Senatorial District.
Late Governor Alao-Akala performed the ceremonial cutting of tape to unveil the empowerment and entrepreneurship materials that included *cars, motorcycles, sewing machines, grinding machines, vulcanising machines, deep freezers, clippers, salon hairdryers, generating sets, laptops, agrochemical sprayers, gas cylinders* and among others
