Tragedy struck in the Oyo State capital on Saturday as at least five people were feared dead in a horrific multi-vehicle accident along the busy Iwo Road–Ojoo Expressway.
The incident, which occurred at the popular Aduloju Bus Stop, directly opposite Dominion City, involved a fully loaded diesel tanker and four Nissan Micra commercial cars.

According to preliminary reports from the Oyo State Road Traffic Management Authority (OYRTMA), the driver of the diesel tanker lost control of the articulated vehicle while traveling at high speed.

A suspected brake failure caused the heavy-duty truck to veer violently into the commercial sedans, crushing them in the process.
Eyewitnesses at Aduloju axis described a chaotic scene, with onlookers rushing to pull trapped passengers out of the badly mangled vehicles before the arrival of first responders.
“It was a terrible sight. The tanker just swerved suddenly and leveled the Micra cars before they could escape,” an eyewitness told reporters.
Officials from OYRTMA, the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), and the Nigerian Police were quickly drafted to the scene to maintain order, supervise rescue efforts, and prevent any secondary disasters such as a fuel explosion.
While emergency teams have begun clearing the wreckage to restore the free flow of traffic, authorities have yet to issue a final official count on fatalities.
The bodies of the deceased are being evacuated to a nearby morgue, while survivors with varying degrees of injuries are receiving urgent care at local hospitals.
Motorists navigating the Iwo Road–Ojoo axis have been urged to exercise extreme caution, obey designated speed limits, and ensure their vehicles are in roadworthy condition to avoid further tragedies on the expressway.
