The New Nigerian People’s Party (NNPP) presidential candidate and former governor of Kano State Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso’s convoy was engaged in a car accident in Nasarawa state, resulting in six fatalities.
A driver of one of the buses carrying his supporters reportedly lost control of the steering when Kwankwaso was opening his presidential campaign office in Lafia, the capital of Nasarawa state, over the weekend, according to reports.
According to reports, two people died later at the hospital, while four people reportedly died instantly.
In light of the regrettable situation, Kwankwaso has expressed sympathy to the residents of Nasarawa State, the relatives of the deceased, and the NNPP.
Governor of Nasarawa State Abdullahi Sule expressed sorrow over the regrettable incident that resulted in the deaths of several party members and the injuries of others.
In a statement released yesterday in Lafia through his chief press secretary Ibrahim Addra, Governor Sule referred to the loss of life of citizens in such situations as regrettable and urged prudence at all times.
