The Progressive Old Students’ Association, Tede (POSAT), has announced plans to celebrate the 50th anniversary of Progressive Secondary Grammar School, Tede, Oyo State, with the launch of a ₦1.5 billion development fund to support the institution’s growth and development.
The golden jubilee celebration, scheduled for November 2026, will commemorate five decades since the school was upgraded to secondary school status in 1976.

In a press release jointly signed by the Interim National President, Dr Funso Folaranmi, and Interim National Secretary, Tajudeen Alabede, the association said the anniversary would bring together alumni, political leaders, business executives, community stakeholders and other friends of the institution.

POSAT explained that the association comprises former students of both Progressive Modern School, Tede, established in 1959, and Progressive Secondary Grammar School, which was upgraded to secondary school status on November 22, 1976, by the government of the old Oyo State.
According to the association, the celebration will also recognise the school’s 67-year history, dating back to its original establishment, while providing an opportunity for alumni across the world to reconnect and contribute to its future.
The programme of activities will feature special thanksgiving services, Community Engagement Day, Homecoming and School Community Day, Global Alumni Reunion Day and a grand finale.
The grand finale, scheduled for Saturday, November 28, 2026, will feature a scholarly symposium on the theme, “The Future of Community-Based Public Secondary Schools in Nigeria.”
Other highlights will include the unveiling of the Strategic School Development Initiative, the official launch of the ₦1.5 billion Development Fund and the presentation of Legacy Awards to pioneers whose contributions helped establish and develop the school.
POSAT said the development fund and strategic initiative were part of efforts to honour the institution’s legacy while mobilising resources and support for its continued advancement.
The association expressed optimism that the golden jubilee would strengthen the bond among its members, deepen engagement with the host community and inspire renewed commitment to the development of the school.
It added that the celebration would serve not only as an opportunity to reflect on the institution’s achievements over the years but also to chart a sustainable path for its future.
