Police Arrest Woman For Allegedly Drowning Baby In Ogun

Ogun State Police command has arrested a 30 year woman Oluwabunmi Ajayi for allegedly drowning a five month old baby in RSS River in Sagamu.

The Police Public Relations Officer, Omolola Odutola who confirmed the arrest of the suspect in Abeokuta said the rescued baby is now in stable condition

Ms Odutola explained that one Olusola Sonaya rescued the baby after he saw the woman dropping the baby into the river.

She noted that the baby was rushed to Olabisi Onabanjo University Teaching Hospital, OOUTH, Sagamu for immediate medical attention, and examination, and was reported to have survived the trauma.

The Command’s spokesperson pointed out that the mother had been apprehended and currently under observation to ascertain her mental health while efforts were on to contact relatives or the husband to hand over the baby in the hospital, for appropriate welfare.
