The People’s Democratic Party PDP in Ogun State says state sponsored political thugs are destroying it’s campaign posters and billboards across the state.

The Governorship candidate of the PDP in the state Dr. Ladi Adebutu while receiving Coalition of Deregistered Political Parties into the PDP at the party secretariat in Abeokuta expressed displeasure over the incident and called for investigation of the incidents.

Dr. Adebutu who also accused the media of complicity of silence urged the media to live up to expectations of being the last hope of Democracy by performing its watchdog role for the society.

The PDP candidate hinted that PDP government in Ogun state would work for the betterment of lives of the citizens which is the essence of democracy and Justice and not working to stifle opposition.

Dr. Adebutu said his party would soon reveal the current Ogun state government scorecards in the interest of the people.

Ogun state PDP chairman, Mr. Sikirulahi Ogundele while speaking also alledged that the Billboard and posters destruction were state sponsored.

The leadership of the seventeen deregistered political parties that joined PDP were led by Mr. Biola Lawal and were given the flag of PDP by the Ogun state chairman.

Meanwhile the Ogun state Police Command has warned those behind the dastardly act of destroying the campaign to desist forthwith or be ready to face the dire consequences of their actions.

The Command in a statement made available to newsmen in Abeokuta by the its spokeswoman, Mr. Abimbola Oyeyemi said it will not tolerate any act of lawlessness in whatever form before, during and after the 2023 General Elections.

The command said anyone caught perpetrating any act capable of undermining the peaceful atmosphere in the state will be severely dealt with in accordance with the provisions of the law.

Mr. Oyeyemi assured that the police Command was committed to ensuring a violence free electioneering campaign that will guarantee a free, fair and credible 2023 General Elections in the state.
