The atmosphere at the first alumni reunion, 2001 Set of the United Secondary School, Ijokodo Ibadan was on Saturday 30th December, 2023 filled with joy, expression of love and exchange of memories.
newsarena.ng reports that the 2001 alumnus of the school with few of their teachers, used the occasion to bond and chart a way forward to advance the development of the school.
While some of the old students mimic their teachers, others showered encomium on them, appreciating their commitments towards raising ambassadors that are now useful for themselves and the society.
Our Correspondent also report that the reunion came with mixed feelings as the Alumnus celebrated one of them who clocked 40 and remembered some of their classmates who had died within the 22 years of graduation.
In a charge to the old students, one of the teachers, Mrs Adenrele Adegoroye who spoke on the topic “Diversify” stressed the need for the young professionals to venture into legal multiple income generating businesses, for them to meet up with present economic realities.
Mrs Adegoroye also challenged the Nigerian government to look inward and diversify fully into agriculture, noting that oil can no longer remain the mainstay of the nation’s economy.
In an address, the current principal, United Secondary School, Ijokodo Ibadan, Mr Raji appreciated the 2001 set for their previous donations especially during the school’s inter-house sports.
Earlier in the welcome address, president, 2001 set, United Secondary School, Ijokodo Ibadan, Mr Hammed Laniba described the event as an opportunity to unwind, network and appreciate God’s mercy since twenty two years of graduation.
The teachers whom some of them are now retired principals, Mrs Adekanmbi Bosede Funke, Mr. Akanni Babayemi, Mr Lamidi, Mr Ogunremi and Mr Ariyo appealed to the old students to consider sponsoring brilliant students who could afford to further their education in the school.
