An allegation that some body parts were taken from a corpse overnight has led to chaos this morning at the ibadan Central Hospital, in the nearby Ososami neighborhood of ibadan.
People calling for justice in great numbers blocked the entrance to the street where the hospital was situated.
According to reports, after 91-year-old Rachel Oshuntolu passed away on Sunday morning, and that her body was tampered with. She had been admitted to the hospital more than a week earlier.
The woman’s children claimed that they left the hospital around 8:00 on Sunday night with the intention of bringing the corose to a mortuary this morning.
They added that they were all shocked to see blood on the floor of the room where the corpse was kept and pounds of flesh that had been ripped from the woman’s forehead and arm.
Oluwaseun Hastrup, the hospital’s director of administration, was also reached by Radio Nigeria, but she declined to comment on the matter.
Adewale Osifeso, police public relations officer, Oyo state police command, responded by saying he had not yet received a briefing on the incident.
To stop a breakdown in law and order, the divisional police officer of Iyaganku and his crew were on the scene.
