Oyo State Governor, Engineer Seyi Makinde says his government will make public response to the report of the Judicial Commission of Inquiry into the abduction of students and teachers in Oriire Local Government area of the state.
Governor Makinde said this while receiving the report from the Chairman of the Commission, Justice Mojeed Owoade, Retired held at the Secretariat, Ibadan.
The governor said his administration would carefully study the recommendations contained in the report, respond to them publicly and outline concrete actions to be taken.
Governor Makinde who explained that sensitive information capable of endangering lives or prejudicing security operations would be protected, emphasised that confidentiality must not become an excuse for avoiding accountability.
He however called on federal government to intensify efforts in rescuing more than 40 children reportedly abducted in Borno State on the same day as the Oriire incident.
Earlier, Justice Owoade,Retired noted that the Commission heard from 72 witnesses, including victims, traditional rulers, civil society organisations, experts and other stakeholders, and identified review of laws and management of forest reserves, as one of its major recommendations.
