The Oyo state government through the Primary Healthcare board have flagged off the second phase of mass vaccination campaign in the state.
The campaign was flagged off by the commissioner of health, Dr. Taiwo Ladipo at a mini ceremony held at the state secretariat, Ibadan.
Speaking with newsarena.ng, Executive Secretary, Oyo State Primary Health care board, Dr Muideen Olatunji said the second phase of the mass vaccination exercise was to ensure at least seventy five percent of the population get vaccinated.
Dr Olatunji said with the coming of the fourth wave of covid 19 pandemic across the world, there was the need to intensify efforts and restrategise to provide access to covid 19 vaccines.
He said thirty percent of the population of the state took the first dose of vaccine in the first phase of the mass vaccination campaign
Dr Olatunji appealed to residents of the state to take advantage of the second phase of the mass vaccination campaign to get vaccinated and take the booster jab.
He said vaccines are available in all Primary health care facilities across the state free of charge.
