Oyo Speaker, Ogundoyin Commiserates With Chief of Staff, Olubayo Olaniyan Over Elder Brother’s Death

The Speaker of the Oyo State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Adebo Ogundoyin, has extended heartfelt condolences to his Chief of Staff, Prince Olubayo Olaniyan, and the entire family of late Oba Bolanle Olaniyan, Gbajumola the 2nd over the passing of Pastor Opeyemi Adeyemi Olaniyan, the immediate elder brother of Prince Olubayo and a cleric in Ibadan.

Pastor Opeyemi Olaniyan, the shepherd of Oaks of Righteousness Christian Center, Onireke, Ibadan, passed away on Monday, January 12, 2026, after a brief illness.

He was the son of the late Oba Bolanle Olaniyan, Gbajumola the 2nd, the revered Eleruwa of Eruwa, whose legacy continues to resonate across Ibarapa land and beyond.

Pastor Olaniyan is survived by his wife and a child.

In a statement issued by the Speaker’s media office, Rt. Hon. Ogundoyin described the death as a painful loss not only to the Olaniyan family but also to the Christian community and the people of Eruwa, who held the late pastor in high esteem for his spiritual leadership and humility.

“I am deeply saddened by the news of Pastor Opeyemi Olaniyan’s passing. He was a man of faith, a beacon of hope to many, and a worthy son of the late Oba Bolanle Olaniyan, Gbajumola the 2nd. His demise is a great loss to all of us who knew and admired his devotion to God and service to humanity,” the Speaker said.

Rt. Hon. Ogundoyin also offered words of comfort to his Chief of Staff, Prince Olubayo Olaniyan, urging him and the family to find solace in the impactful life Pastor Opeyemi lived and the legacy he leaves behind.

“Losing a sibling is a profound pain, and I stand with my Chief of Staff and brother, Prince Olubayo Olaniyan, during this difficult time. May the Almighty grant the family the strength to bear this irreparable loss and may the soul of Pastor Opeyemi rest in perfect peace,” he added.

The Speaker further extended his condolences to the people of Eruwa and the entire Ibarapa community, acknowledging the enduring influence of the late Oba Bolanle Olaniyan, Gbajumola the 2nd and the continued contributions of his children to the development of the region.
