Oyo NUJ @ 60: Ex-FRCN Zonal Director Urges Women Journalists to Balance Professionalism with Family Responsibilities
A former Zonal Director of the Federal Radio Corporation of Nigeria (FRCN), Ibadan Zonal Station, Mrs Bolatito Joseph, has called on women journalists to uphold professionalism while making conscious efforts to maintain a healthy balance between their careers and family responsibilities.
Mrs Joseph made the call while delivering a lecture entitled , “Beyond the Byline: Strategic Integration of Professional Excellence and Family Dynamics for the Contemporary Woman Journalist”, at the Nigerian Association of Women Journalists (NAWOJ) Day celebration.

The lecture formed part of the activities marking the 60th anniversary of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Oyo State Council, held at the Dapo Aderogba Hall, NUJ Press Centre, Iyaganku, Ibadan.

The former Zonal Director noted that women journalists face numerous challenges in balancing their professional ambitions with family responsibilities and other social obligations.
Earlier, in her welcome address, the Oyo State NAWOJ Chairperson, Mrs Omolola Alamu, described the anniversary as a celebration of the union’s legacy, from the era of manual typewriters to the age of artificial intelligence and digital journalism.
Mrs Alamu, however, acknowledged that women journalists still face numerous challenges in balancing their professional careers with family responsibilities, urging them to strive for a healthy work-life balance
In his remarks, the Chairman of NUJ, Oyo State Council, Mr Akeem Abas, explained that the history of journalism in Oyo State and Nigeria as a whole would be incomplete without recognising the remarkable contributions of women journalists.
In separate goodwill messages, a former National President of NUJ, Prince Lanre Ogundipe, and a former Chairperson of NAWOJ, Oyo State Chapter, Mrs Olubisi Yomi-Layinka, encouraged women journalists to acquire relevant skills and continually develop themselves to enhance their professional growth.
