To enhance digital education and improve instructional delivery in schools, the Oyo State Government has distributed 18,000 computer tablets to primary and junior secondary school teachers across its 33 local government areas.
The symbolic presentation of the devices took place at Emmanuel College, Agbowo, University of Ibadan, Oyo State.

Governor Seyi Makinde who was represented at the event by the Deputy Governor, Chief Bayo Lawal, stated that the initiative is part of the administration’s commitment to educational advancement noting that the tablets are preloaded with various educational applications designed to enhance teaching effectiveness and student learning outcomes.

Governor Makinde emphasised that no teachers would have no excuse not to deliver in the classroom, adding that a two-week training program has commenced to ensure the teachers are well-equipped to use the devices.
In a remark, Chairman of Oyo State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB), Dr. Nureni Adeniran, said the training and tablet distribution are aimed at equipping educators with critical digital skills.
Dr Adeniran said the tablets were provided in partnership with World Bank, universal Basic Education Board and Oyo State Universal Basic Education Board to improve the way teachers impart knowledge to their pupils and students.
Also speaking, the Special Adviser to the Governor Seyi Makinde on Education Intervention, Mr. Suraj Tiamiyu disclosed that the training is taking place across 16 designated centers in the state stressed that the program targets 18,000 teachers and is structured to ensure improved educational outcomes.
Some of the beneficiaries including Adelakun Barakat and Gbenga Faniran lauded the initiative describing it as a significant step in Oyo State’s ongoing education reforms.
