The Oyo State House of Assembly, at its Plenary Sitting on Tuesday, appealed to the Executive Governor of the State, Engr. Seyi Makinde, to urgently embark on the Construction of some roads in Ogo-oluwa and Surulere Local Governments of the State .
This followed a motion on the deplorable state of the roads by the lawmaker representing Surulere Ogo-oluwa State Constituency, Hon. Abideen Ogundare.
Hon. Ogundare revealed that the present situation of the roads across the community demands quick intervention in order for the constituents to also immensely benefit from the dividends of democracy spreading across the State by the Present Administration.
He noted that it was important to have good road networking in place as an impetus to drive the economic development of the local Government involved through various farm products.
“The road, which has about 150 agrarian villages in its surroundings and cultivates varied farm produce also hosts one of the biggest poultry farms in Nigeria, Amo Farm. There is no doubt that this road is a good enabler of revenue to the coffers of the state.”
He added that “this road, despite its humpy-bumpy nature, used to be a veritable means through which agricultural produce came in and exited Oyo State to other neighboring States, such as Osun”.
The lawmaker explained that the lack of good roads has led many businesses to their untimely deaths and the collapse of prospective investors in the communities.
The House, however, appealed to the State Government, through the Ministry of Public Works and Transport, to Urgently mobilize contractors to Iresaapa – Iresaadu phase 2 , Mowolowo – Iwo Ate phase 1 and Ipeba-Ajaawa road construction sites, for the people around the areas to also maximally benefit from the good work lined up in the Omituntun 2.0 agenda of the Present Administration in the Pace Setter State.
