The Zenith Labour Party (ZLP) has officially concluded its Oyo State governorship primary election, producing Honorable Lanre Hazan as its flagbearer for the upcoming gubernatorial race.
The primary election, which was held in a peaceful and orderly atmosphere at the party’s state secretariat in Ibadan, was conducted under the strict observation of representatives from the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), alongside heavy security presence and party delegates from all 33 Local Government Areas of the state.
The party also elected its candidates for House Of Assembly across the state
Honorable Lanre Hazan emerged as the consensus candidate of the party after the party members affirmed him and their loyalty to the party’s unity and its mission to rescue Oyo State.
Following the counting of votes by the electoral committee, INEC officials present validated the process, confirming that it complied with the Electoral Act and the party’s constitution.
While accepting the victory, Hon. Hazan expressed immense gratitude to the leadership of the ZLP, the delegates, and the party faithful for the trust reposed in him.
He promised to run an inclusive campaign that addresses the core needs of the people of Oyo State especially Agriculture, Education and Youth empowerment.
In his acceptance speech, Hon. Hazan outlined his blueprint for the state, emphasizing critical sectors that require immediate transformation:
“This ticket is not just for me; it is a mandate for the common man in Oyo State. Our focus will be squarely on grassroots economic empowerment, fixing our educational infrastructure, revamping the agricultural value chain, and ensuring that security is a top priority so our people can sleep with both eyes closed.”
He added that the ZLP is positioned as the ultimate progressive alternative for the electorate, steering away from the unfulfilled promises of old political structures.
Speaking at the conclusion of the exercise, the ZLP primary electoral committee Chairman, Mr Olusola John commended the peaceful conduct of the delegates and praised INEC for their professional oversight.
“Today, we have shown that politics can be done with transparency and maturity. The emergence of Hon. Lanre Hazan signals a new dawn for our party and a formidable challenge to the status quo in Oyo State.”
The party leadership urged all members to close ranks and hit the ground running with aggressive grassroots mobilization to ensure victory at the general polls.
With INEC’s official acknowledgment of the primary’s outcome, Honorable Lanre Hazan is legally set to lead the Zenith Labour Party into the governorship election, promising an intense, policy-driven campaign across the length and breadth of Oyo State.
