Osun Assembly Reacts To Online Claims Alleging Plans To Rotate Traditional Council Chairmanship Seat
Osun State House of Assembly has refuted claims circulating on social media alleging a plan to rotate the Chairmanship of the state’s traditional council.
The State Assembly also retierated its resolve to protect its institutional integrity against misinformation, fake news and malicious falsehoods.

This was disclosed in a statement by the Speaker, Prince Adewale Egbedun, through his Chief Press Secretary,Mr. Olamide Tiamiyu, following a recent post on a Facebook page identified as “Ashiwaju Omo Yoruba,” which suggested that the legislature was considering correspondence on the matter.

Prince Egbedun who described the online publication as false and unconnected to the activities of the Assembly l, noted that misinformation of such could undermine public confidence in democratic institutions, if left unchecked.
The statement reads “there has been no communication submitted to, received by, or acknowledged within the legislative chamber regarding the rotation of chairmanship among traditional rulers in the state.”
” No committee of the House, including the Committee on Chieftaincy Matters, has discussed or scheduled deliberations on such an issue.” it adds
The Speaker cautioned against the spread of unverified information on sensitive cultural and traditional matters.
He said the false information posted on the Facebook did not originate from any recognised channel of the House of Assembly.
The Speaker reassured residents of the state of his commitment to transparency and accountability in legislative affairs.
