In a decisive move to tackle rising insecurity, the Ondo State government has ratified the death penalty by hanging for individuals convicted of kidnapping.
Additionally, any property used as a hideout or operational base by kidnappers will be demolished.

The State Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice, Mr. Kayode Ajulo who announced the measures during a news briefing in Akure the state capital disclosed that it was targeted at ridding the state off criminal elements.

Also, the Special Adviser to the Governor on Infrastructure, Lands, and Housing, Mr. Abiola Olawoyin said that the government had approved the construction of a dual carriageway in Okitipupa and Igbokoda.
Mr Olawoyin added that 6,000 solar-powered streetlights would be installed across communities in the senatorial districts to improve security and infrastructure.
On the health front, the Special Adviser to the Governor on Health, Professor Simidele Odimayo announced the establishment of a Lassa Fever Research and Control Center targeted at enhancing the prevention, control, and treatment of the disease in Ondo State.
